I am a PHD student of musicology currently writing a thesis on contemporary Irish music. This work aims to examine socio-economic change in Ireland from the 1970s up to the present day through examining music produced there over this period. Doing so will exemplify the analytical potential of popular music as a cultural reflection of the economic base. The posts on this blog serve a similar purpose, offering a materialist perspective on pop culture for analytical purposes. I have also previously published several minor political opinion pieces on The Indiependent and Meridian. In regularly posting articles on this blog, I aim to further showcase my analytical skills and writing ability.
